1959 Cadillac Series 62

Up for auction is a unique opportunity to get into an extremely solid 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe and complete it the way you want, be it an original restoration or otherwise. This is a numbers matching, factory black (10) with black and white interior (30), EZ eye glass (E), and Heater (H) optioned car.My wife and I have happily owned the car since 2012. We purchased it out of Utah as an older restoration (incorrect interior cloth). The lack of rust, quality of the chrome, overall c...ondition, and sharp looks have made it a very special car for us. We paid full value for the car, $30, 000 before transport and taxes. It was going to be a keeper.Sometime shortly after buying the car we put a new water pump on it, had the Rochester Carburetor restored, gave it a tune up, replaced the exhaust system, and went through the brakes. With that maintenance done, we enjoyed the car as is for a few years after. A “before” picture from a couple years ago is shown as the main photo in the auction.As time went on, we decided to take the next steps in refreshing the restoration as well as making some upgrades so we could enjoy the car well into the future.  As we were both working crazy hours, we found a somewhat local classic car shop that we contracted to repaint the car as well as correct the interior. In addition, we were going to upgrade the front brakes to disc (purchased), add a larger front sway bar (purchased), and install a Vintage Air Conditioning System.Unfortunately, part way into the project, the shop owners moved and subsequently went out of business. Our car (cars actually, they had our 4 door for paint also), as well as many other customer cars, were left in a building for sale. We had to get a court order to break in and get the car with the aid of a sheriff. We got our car, all the components for it (less its original radiator and new battery box), sued the owners, and got our deposit back (with interest), less the cost of disassembling the car.This is where we are today, a VERY SOLID Series 62 Coupe that has been prepared for its’ better restoration. As the car is apart, you get to see all aspects of it. How solid the car is and how little rust it has is clearly evident. This car is not full of filler or Bondo.I’ve taken pictures of the parts and have detailed photos showing everything I can get to, but unfortunately can’t show you the underside or the frame. They match the condition of the rest of the car, but I had back surgery that resulted in a spinal fusion on September 25th. I’m unable to bend, lift, kneel, squat, etc., so getting the car on the lift for pictures and video is impossible for me right now. My surgery was unexpected in many ways and I was unprepared for the extensive recovery time I face. I’m unable to do the work I do for a living the next 6 months minimum.  Due to these facts and faced with the car(s) sitting for at least a year, we’re putting up two of our pride and joy projects, this Cadillac and our ’57 Desoto.This auction is for our complete (less original radiator, but with replacement core, and less a factory battery tray), Series 62 Coupe in disassembled condition, ready for restoration, as shown. All trim items are accounted for, as are all driveline components and original brakes. Included with the car is a new windshield, windshield seal, new driver and passenger mirrors, a Classic Performance Disc Brake System, and Jamco heavy duty front sway bar.I encourage viewing of the car and do not require payment until the car and parts have been inspected. I have nothing to hide and would like to keep the car, but the reality of no income and knowing the car will sit a year or longer prompts me to take this action. The old adage “my loss, your gain” could not more clearly define the situation on this exceptionally solid  ’59 Cadillac. If the car does not meet reserve, I'll happily keep it and look to one of our other cars to sell.A good faith deposit is required at close of auction and I can store the car for some time as I imagine it may take the buyer a while to arrange transport. On Oct-20-19 at 07:09:50 PDT, seller added the following information:If this auction meets the reserve, I'll offer the auction winner my entire collection of 1959 Cadillac parts, consisting of a complete series 62 4 door six window sedan, plus about 1/4 of an entire additional '59 4 window series 62 sedan parts (no body, frame or bumpers) to include its 390 engine, transmission, seats, windows, door internals, grills, complete dashboard, etc. at a low package price.
