Up for auction this fine and rare vintage men's Girard-Perregaux Classic Elegance Big Date Moon Phase wristwatch Reference #49530, in a solid 18k rose-gold nicely-shaped case, manufactured in 2005. The watch comes with its original Girard-Perregaux alligator band, 18k rose-gold deployment buckle and International Guarantee card. The retail price was $25600.The watch has big size 40 x 51 mm not counting an original GP winding crown, with 21 mm between lugs for the band, and is in min...t close to new condition. The total weight of the watch is hefty 113 g.The watch has three complications: a big date window at 12 o'clock; the second and third complications are located in the subsidiary dial at 6: a moon phases indicator and a small second. With this layout, we probably have the most balanced Girard-Perregaux ever. The large date gives echo to the moon and all the indications feel proportioned and aligned. The big date is displayed according to a system patented by Girard-Perregaux: two disks, one transparent, the other matte, respectively for the units and the tens, overlap without revealing demarcation.The watch sports a genuine automatic Girard-Perregaux Caliber GP3306 with 28, 800 vph caliber movement, with a nicely decorated rotor and bridges adorned with Geneva stripes and bevelled angles, epitomizing excellence and perfection of Swiss mechanical watches gold era.
