Listed for sale is a very rare Blancpain fifty fathoms rotomatic dive Watch Homage. It is my understanding that 500 of these homage watches were made in Germany about 20 years ago. The casemaker was inspired by the 50 fathoms to create an updated version of the original featuring the same Base A. Schild automatic movement as an original Blancpain. It is my understanding that these 500 watches were not intended to be fakes, but rather to be what the creator envisioned as an update to th...e original 50 fathoms. The watch is not an exact replica of the original Blancpain. The case is larger, the bezel chunkier, it is a great and wearable size. The dial is signed Blancpain and the back has what appear to be military inspired marks Along with the name Blancpain. The movement is unbranded outside of the original maker marks. This watch was not made by Blancpain, but rather made by a passionate collector inspired to modernize. It is a fun piece to add to your collection. Super wearable and well built! The watch appears nearly unworn. The dial is mint. The crystal appears in very good condition, there appears to be a minor mark on or under the crystal. Overall though it presents well.The Stainless steel case is in very nice condition with some minor scratches dings and dents consistent with very careful and occasional wear. The bezel clicks and turns distinctively. The Bakelite like bezel has nice definition and shape. The crown properly sets the time and the watch runs and ticks. Crown screws down properly.Due to the age and rarity of this watch it is sold as is.
