Offered for auction this rare and beautiful automatic solid 18K (0.750) gold men's Longines Flagship watch with date Ref. 3417, produced in 1966. The watch comes in excellent original condition, never re-finished or re-polished, one of the best examples I've ever seen.The elegant Flagship collection with its distinctive medallion featuring a caravel engraved on the case back was launched by Longines in 1957, and at the beginning had only manual-wind models line.In 1960, Long...ines developed the 340 calibre and its variants (341, 342, 343, 345, 351) with which the Flagship timepieces are fitted.
At that "golden era of mechanical watches" Longines produced its own developed in-house high-end movements, sought after by collectors nowadays, not as cheap ETA movements in modern Longines watches. In the beginning of the 1960's the automatic Flagship watch was launched, and shortly become one of the most iconic Longines models.The offered for auction watch is a rare Flagship model from 1966, that sports an excellent Swiss made 343 Longines asymmetric full-rotor caliber movement.
The movement is clean and bright, and is excellent running and keeping time.The watch comes with its original signed winding crown. The full-size 35 mm case with distinctive long lugs feels heavy and substantial, the caravel emblem on back is fully intact and looks gorgeous. The dial is in original immaculate condition, never restored or touched in any way. This highly collectible timepiece would be an excellent financial investment, always raising its value.
