Recently, near Avignon, a friend from Aix-en-Provence presented a small folio of drawings, containing a small collection of early 18th century Bolognese drawings, in our opinion of three or four different artists. I'm proud to present this interesting collection for sale.
The present drawing, executed in charcoal on laid paper, depicts a study of three men (possibly on a construction site), watching something.
This drawing could have been preparatory for a larger sca...le painting.Backside : a study of an Egyptian sculpture.
Authorship : the drawing is from the Italian-Bolognese School. Regarding an attribution, we think that the artist should be situated in the circle of Giovanni Antonio Burrini (Bologna 1656 - Bologna 1727).
Period : ca. 1710-1720.
Size : 20, 4x14cm.
Condition : Good. Some scattered dirt throughout. Slight traces of wrinkling. Sides : some light spots. Unframed.
