This highly expressive image was created by the professional artist, William Helvey. It is a beautiful drawing that is unframed and created on archival, heavy illustration board paper. This is an original colored pencil drawing is in excellent condition and no copies have ever been made. Image size is approximately approximately 20 x 28 inches.... The color of the original art may be slightly different that the one you see on the screen. They are more vivid with darker, contoured lines. The drawing is in the artist’s personal collection and has had limited exposure to the public.
The image shows three large elephants standing in various relaxed positions with the sun highlighting their backs. Emphasis of the composition is the unusual position of the animals. All three are seen predominately in a 3/4 side angle, emphasizing their unique size and shape of such a large animal. The angle of foreshortening of this pose makes this image very interesting and different than most artistic drawings, especially the method of drawing with colored pencils on a toned background. The image has carefully contoured lines showing the shape and size of the elephants. The overall color theme is with vibrant warm and cool colors. The "museum quality" image emphasizes soft lights and shadows.
