For auction is the first of a large estate of antique prints that I will be listing. Each was carefully collected by a lifelong lover of natural history and antique prints and guaranteed to be authentic and of the period. This print is approximately 11.75" x 9.0" and features the Martinet originally hand colored copper plate engraving "Gerfault de Norwege" (1770-1776) number 462. The front is in excellent condition for its age. The reverse (see photos) has a tiny pencil marking of "260..." in the bottom right hand corner and a very small piece of white paper (about 3" long and barely adhering to the tip of the upper margin) which I assume was at one time used to affix this print during framing. It could be carefully removed but I will leave it as is. The three "stains" on the reverse are actually the green coloring of the leaves which bled through during the printing process. I recently found another print exactly like this one online for $225.00 so I am starting this one out for a fair price.
