This is a pair of original Large Size Photos from Shanghai, China in the 1920s. These were brought to the USA by an American man who worked in Shanghai, China in the 1920s to early 1930s for the Dollar Steamship Line (now called Matson). Presumably they are photos of his American and Chinese co-workers in a group photo and a ballroom dance photo. One is a mounted photo by Crown Studio Shanghai and measures 10 1/2" x 8 1/8" (the mount is about 13" x 12 1/2" with the left side clipped of...f which does not affect the photo). It is a group photo in front of a cathedral-style building. The other photo is by Ah Fong (Shanghai) and measures 11x9". It features partygoers dressed up in a ballroom, perhaps on New Years Eve. Note that both have about a 1/2" puncture in the middle. It appears they were stacked on top of each other when something punctured them, though it did not leave a hole.
