Rare Vintage Rolex Tudor Oyster Watch ref 4540 cal. 59 Military Dial Superb. Condition is Used. Dispatched with Royal Mail 1st Class. On 05-Nov-19 at 07:22:00 GMT, seller added the following information:Here we have a simply stunning original gents Tudor ref. 4540 watch from the late 1940's. The super clean caliber 59 movement (also used in Rolex watches of this era) has benefited from a recent service, and is winding, setting and running as it should. But what really sets this watch a...part from the std. Tudors of this era is the rare Oyster case, sometimes referred to as the Kent or Devon lugs case. Still a Tudor Oyster case , but with a more elaborate lug design. These cases were only made for a short time, I am not sure whether they weren't as popular as the regular Oyster case, or whether Tudor stopped making them due to the more complex machining required. As you can see from the photos, this watch is in outstanding condition for its age. The case shows very minimal tiny marks, which are very hard to see. The military inspired dial has a lovely patina, with a couple of shadows, probably burn marks from the original Radium lume on the hour and minute hands (now replaced) when the watch may have laid unused for along time. The original Oyster patent crown is still present, and it screws tight, pulls out and winds/sets as it should. Dimensions are generous for a Tudor of this age, being 34mm dia. not including crown, 37mm with crown, lug width 18mm, and lug to lug length 42.5mm. The watch will be well packaged and sent Royal Mail Special Delivery Thanks for looking
