Vintage Rolex Oyster Lipton, 15 rubies, chrome metal watch, 1942, with extremely rare, red sub numerals. Manual wind. The unrestored and original dial has a beautiful patina and is very clean considering it’s nearly 80 years old. I believe this watch to be completely original.
Please note the red sub-numerals which make this particular model an extremely rare timepiece indeed. This belonged to my late Father (a doctor) who was an avid co...llector of high class watches. He usually only bought and collected those that fitted his criteria of being in specimen condition. He acquired so many during his lifetime that it's going to take me ages to list them all as I have to go to the bank and take them out in small numbers. However, I'm gradually getting round to selling off his collection to pay death duties etc. This watch was one of a number he used to wear on special occasions but he probably wore it no more than a few dozen times. Hence it's in such great condition. It is a truly stunning looking watch and keeps extremely accurate time although please don't expect quartz accuracy! The movement is very clean as I hope you can see by the photos. Please note that most photos were taken with an enlarging lens so this has magnified scratches and marks which would not normally be seen by the naked eye. Serial number is 146815 / 3135 and I guarantee it to be 100% genuine. The movement is totally correct and is ticking away beautifully. This is a mid-sized watch measuring 30mm (excluding winder), 34mm including winder. Lug width is 15.6mm. This extremely rare watch is in incredible condition for its age although obviously, it does show signs of use commensurate with its age. Even the back is in good condition and has never been inscribed. This beautiful timepiece can easily be worn by men or women as it's a mid-size model.
