This Is a signed and numbered lithograph by outstanding British born artist Mary Vickers. It is number 140 of only 200 specimens. It was printed in 1975 by George Miller and Son, New York. The plates were destroyed and there were no prior states of edition, so 200 is it. Vickers is a very prominent artist. She is particularly noted for her studies of beautiful women, happy children and loving couples.I purchased this piece sometime between 1977 and 1980 fr...om Merrill Chase Galleries in Chicago, Illinois. The overall dimension of this item which is framed, matted and glass covered is approximately 24.5 by 33 inches. The visible lithograph is 18 by 26 inches in size so there is probably an inch or so on each side under the matting. The Biography on the back of the picture is very interesting and indicates the high standing she had already achieved relatively early in her career. Notice the names of people owning collections of her work. They include Sarah Churchill, the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, very famous artist Leonardo Nierman and top vocalist of his day Frankie Lane to name a few. The picture weighs about ten pounds. To properly package and protect it, the oversize dimensions, shipping weight and insurance will cause the shipping cost to be substantial.
