1930’s French Romantic Hand Colored Lithograph In Wood Frame

The dealer from whom I purchased this beautiful hand colored lithograph described the print as depicting “European People of Class and Leisure.” It is certainly a romantic view of Parisian men and women seemingly enjoying each other’s company in a delicate rendered bucolic atmosphere where pastel flower garlands and greenery set the scene. The artist includes a vignette painting within a painting that depicts a quiet scene in which boaters float across a lake or pond near what ap...pears to be a small village. It is truly a lovely and dreamlike scene, and it is in excellent condition. The paper on the back has been torn off , but there is no damage to the lithograph , nor is there dirt or dust under the glass that I can see. The Solid wood frame measures 28 1/2” Tall x 18” Wide. The pink margin is 24” Tall x 14” Wide. Please examine the photos carefully to view the delicate hand coloring on this lithograph .After doing some research on this lithograph , I found that the original art was by well known French painter Jean Antoine Watteau in the Baroque and Rococo Styles. He lived and worked in the 17th and 18th centuries. His paintings were later lithographed and brilliantly hand colored by “Nichol Lithography.” This Print is titled “Spring” part of a series of his works of the seasons.
