What is the difference when you BuySumTyme?
I am a collector myself and have a passion for horology. I spent twenty five years in account management and come from a real Old School Background. I inherited my love for vintage and contemporary watches from my
Dad who grew up on the Lower East Side of NYC in the heart of the diamond district and at that time NYC's watch district. His oldest and best friend from Childhood became a very well known watchmaker down there, where Dad woruld t...ake my brother and I on Sundays. I was introduced to the great American and Swiss manufacturers like Hamilton, Waltham, Bulova, Bulova Accutron, Zodiac, Tissot, Tag Heuer, Omega, Gruen, Benrus, et al. The later 70's saw the demise of the most of the American giants, a sad time if you ask me.
Why do I tell you this? My formative background, and my experience in account management transfers to the care and subsequent sale of these time pieces of history. When you receive a watch from me, unlike most sellers, bracelets will have been both sonically and steamed cleaned, refurbished or in some cases replaced with NOS or Vintage period correct piece. You should see how filthy bracelets get, likely you know exactly what I mean. How do you buy a vintage piece from say an estate and not bother to remove the bracelet, pins, etc and not ultrasonically clean them? Well I am sure everyone has their reasons, I just don’t roll that way. I don’t just acquire something for my collection and not re-condition it when required I want a buyer to experience a higher level of custom service. Provenance matters to collectors and matters to me.
Every watch I send to a buyer, is tested again prior to shipping. I have my own Weishi Timegrapher to record data for both Mechanical and Automatic movements. Vintage Quartz watches are tested as well on a Quartz Watch Tester 4 in 1 Line Free / Release, Pulse, Circuit, Battery Tester and/or analog Multimeter. I have a love for Vintage 214 and 214HN Accutrons, and I typically send them out for overhaul (unless specified otherwise) when they entire my collection for obvious reasons, even if they seem to be running at the time of acquisition.
When I ship a watch or piece of jewelry, they are hand wrapped in a vinyl wrap to protect bezel, bracelet, leather buckle and case. You tell me who does that. Additionally, if I have a extra battery on hand, I often include it for no extra charge.
When I have a watch restored or overhauled, I only use the finest watchmakers trained in those specific brands. Take a look at my Seller Feedback.
