Vintage Universal Geneve Cal. 262 Mechanical Men's Watch.
A beautiful pre-owned dressy Universal Geneve watch. I am not exactly sure on the year of manufacture, but I believe it to be from 50s or 60s. It has a beige dial with nice patina on the arabic numerals and the dauphine hands. The small seconds gives a great character to this otherwise subtle yet classy design. I have yet to see another one like this in my search; very unique looking watch. It has a solid case back that... is engraved with a personal note (I believe it was a gift of service to someone who owed before me) which personally, I did not mind at all.
Its a great old watch from a very respected brand. Here are some basic dimensions:
Case diameter (not including crown): 34 mmLug-to-Lug distance: 40 mmHeight / Thickness: 9 mmLug width: 18 mm
The movement is a manual wind Cal. 262 that is running well and keeping good time. The service history is unknown but definitely recommended to enjoy this watch for the long run. The water resistance is not tested, but I wouldn't count on it having much given its vintage nature.
Overall the watch is in good cosmetic condition given its age. There are few scratches on the crystal and case. Please refer to pictures carefully to get a better idea. I have tried to capture the scuffs on the crystal in picture # 4, 5, 6. Please see carefully.
NOTE: One thing to note is that the top half of the case where the crustal is fixed onto is slightly loose to the point where you can kind of rotate it in its place. Its nowhere near to popping out or anything, just rotates in its place. And there is enough friction where it stops rotating in a certain position. I assure you that this phenomenon won't keep happening when you are wearing the watch or any other time. It only happens when you physically try to rotate that part. I believe it can easily be fixed. This is not a huge issue or damage to the watch, and doesn't hinder the functionality in any way, just wanted to inform.
The watch is paired with a nice tan leather strap and also comes with an additional 18mm tan strap with taper to give a more vintage vibe.
