CLAUDE RAINS
Claude Rains signs a document authorizing William Morris Agency to receive payments on his behalf from Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corp.
Document Signed: "Claude Rains". 1p, 8½x11. Beverly Hills, California, 1960 February 5. On William Morris Agency stationery to Twentie...th Century-Fox Film Corp. In part: "You are hereby notified that I have authorized the William Morris Agency, Inc. to accept delivery of any and all checks and/or sums of money which may from time to time be or become payable to me from you...." Claude Rains (1889-1967), who played the title role in The Invisible Man (1933), was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor in 1939 (as the "bought" Senator Paine in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington), 1943 (Inspector Louis Renault in Casablanca), 1944 (title role in Mr. Skeffington) and 1946 (Ingrid Bergman's Nazi husband in Notorious). Lightly soiled. Staple holes and file holes at top. Ink and pencil notes (unknown hand). Otherwise, fine condition.

The majority of our in-house framed items are encapsulated in acid free sleeves to guard against organic acids, mounted in an acid-free enviroment and are framed behind glass or UF3-AR Plexiglas which blocks out most ultraviolet light.
Return Policy: If any substantial defect not described in the item listing is found by the purchaser, the item(s) must be returned within 3 days of receipt. Item(s) may not be returned except for reasons of authenticity or substantial defect in description. We warrant to the original purchaser for a period of ten (10) years from the date of the sale the authenticity of any autograph offered by HistoryForSale.
