Original, studio-issued LINEN BACKED 27x41 Style “A” 1-sheet movie poster from the 1968 Stanley Kubrick / Arthur C. Clarke sf classic, “2001: A Space Odyssey” starring Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood. The poster was in very good folded condition with fold lines prior to linen backing. The professional linen backing has eliminated the distraction of the fold lines from the beauty of the Robert McCall artwork – the linen backing extends out from the poster borders by about 1” o...n all sides (the winning bidder can decide whether they want to trim the backing to the exact poster dimensions). NOTE: Linen backing is a process of mounting a poster to Japanese Masa paper with acid free paste and the Masa paper is mounted to an acid free canvas, typically cotton. Linen backing flattens the poster, preserves the poster and makes the poster more durable. Linen backing can dramatically improve the overall appearance of a poster and it can substantially increase its value. It is the preferred archival method for conserving and/or restoring a poster. The poster will be shipped rolled in a very sturdy mailing tube with full insurance.
