Welcome to Décor Arts LLCUp for consideration is a beautiful Early 19th c Antique Pearlware Swansea Centerpiece Comport Bowl attributed to Thomas Pardoe. The comport is gorgeous, decorated with a lovely botanical floral border over a purple base accented with lovely hand painted scenic portraits. This piece was purchased from the Greenway Sale, " Agatha Christie Estate" in 2006 in England. I have the original catalog. The previous owner wrote down a few of the hammer prices in pe...n. I can not 100% guarantee you the actual sell price but they wrote down 2200 lbs. I was able to find to 2 other items that sold at this sale in an article online and the written in pen prices matched the articles sales records. So most likely the correct sales price. Anyways this piece is absolutely stunning. Measures approx. 14.5" across x 9.75" deep x 7 - 7.5" tall to the handles. The piece is in good condition for its age. A very fine repair to the foot as advertised in the original catalog. There are a couple tiny shallow nicks in painted decoration and border. A couple very small insignificant black paint touchups to the trimmed border. Also a very minor craze line in glaze on bottom of foot. Overall good condition for its age, as clearly shown in photos. I was able to find an example that sold at major auction, a sweat meat set with a similar background decoration but blue advertised as decorated by Pardoe and W Weston sold for 27 thousand, that set was a much finer and larger example but his works are very sought after to say the least.
