Vintage, Early Orient and Flume Vase, Blue Aurene Peacock Feathers, 1980
This gorgeous handblown vase was made in 1980 by Orient and Flume, Chico, California.
It's in a bulbous, shouldered form with a rolled neck extending from the top, standing on a short pedestal base.
The design features a background of blue aurene glass, with pulled and twisted peacock feathers in iridescent blues and greens and opaque white. Nice, attractive effect, very well executed.
Dimensions: 8-1/...4" high x 5-3/4" in diameter (at widest); 3-3/8" in diameter at the rim; the base is 3" in diameter.
This is in excellent original condition, with some wear to the base due to its age, and a few bubble bursts to the surface (in the making).
Inscribed on the base: "Orient & Flume / 1980 May 63". The original Orient & Flume sticker is attached to the polished pontil. There is also an old paper sticker reading "#170" (don't know the meaning of that one).
Note: The white hotspots and reflections in the photos are from the lights.
