Beautiful 11 piece Limoges Fish Set including:
One serving platter (approx 24" by 10.5")
Eight plates (approx 9" diameter)
Sauce pitcher (approx 3.5" by 7") and underplate (approx 9.5" by 6.5")
Pieces have scalloped borders with beading; decor is hand-painted with different fish on all pieces, artist signed "De Nerval". Coiffe Mark 3 in green and LRI Mark in gray-green. The book in which a very similar set is shown by the same artist is included as part of this ...auction. The book is called The Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, by Mary Frank Gaston, 1980, and is in used condition. Note the set listed is not the EXACT same one (for one thing, the book set says it had 10 plates; this set has 8, whether some were broken or lost, I do not know), but the likeness is striking. The 1980 guide estimates the value of the book set (again, with 10 plates) at $1500-$1800.
All pieces are in good condition--beautifully painted, EXCEPT there is a chip on ONE plate (see the last 3 photos). Please let the photos be your guide regarding condition and feel free to ask any questions.
