Rare find! This early Royal Copenhagen lidded gravy or sauce bowl has everything going for it...both lid and plate have matching signatures, with the attached plate showing only the name DANMARK, which dates the set to between 1894 and 1900. Red Fluted Full Lace pattern is exactly the same as their highly desirable Blue Fluted Full Lace except for the color---one I've never seen before. The reddish purple is more of a magenta...just gorgeous. Both lid and bowl w...ith attached under dish are marked with RC's three blue wavy lines and the same item number 2/589 22...RC used the number 1 to designate Blue Fluted Full Lace, so I'm guessing the 2 is for Red Fluted Full Lace. Painter's mark is to the right. The lid, handles and edges of the attached plate are trimmed in gold. Love the finial---looks like a little mushroom on a plumed stem, and there are two tab handles on the long ends of the bowl. Condition on this piece is fabulous! Hard to believe it's survived over 100 years....the only apology is that there's no spoon. It measures 9 1/2" long, 6 1/2" wide and 4 3/4". My photos are a bit darker than the actual soft white base color, but still, please check them carefully before bidding, and make sure you wait for your invoice before paying.
