Item under consideration is a Vintage, heavy, clear, hand-cut crystal PUNCH BOWL SET designed and produced in what is today the Czech republic (Bohemia).
Set consist of a 13 inch tall oval PUNCH BOWL with LID and 11 matching 3 inch tall CUPS with HANDLES. The PUNCH BOWL and CUP design consist of a hand-cut version of the HARVARD PATTERN, which nearly covers the complete surface area of the BOWL and CUPS with small rectangles containing intricate star designs ( details be...low) producing a magnificent prismatic sparkle when light is applied. BOWL and LID.The combined 13 inch tall, 8 1/2 inch diameter BOWL and LID form an egg (oval) shape (photo # 2). There are 20 vertical miter cuts extending from the base of the BOWL to near the center of the LID. Cuts are equally spaced around the circumference of the BOWL and LID. Cuts are interrupted by a 3/8 inch blank clear space where the body and lid meet ( photo # 2). There are 9 horizontal cuts equally spaced up the body of the BOWL and LID. These vertical and horizontal cuts form 8 horizontal rows containing 20 rectangles each of graduated sizes, 5 on the body and 3 on the lid (photo #4). Intricate hobstar and flat star designs are hand-cut to fit within the created rectangles forming a spectacular overall design presentation. Alternate rows of hobstar and flat-star designs (photos #4, 5, 6, 7).The base has a 5 3/4 inch diameter 24 point star burst cut on bottom ( photo #8)The domed LID is 8 inch in diameter with the 3 1/2 inch diameter center clear and blank crystal with ten 1/2 inch oval (thumb print) cuts and a 2 inch wide x 2 1/2 inch tall faceted finial in the center (photos #4 & 7). There is a 1 inch square cutout on the lid's front rim to accommodate a ladle (photo #7 ).Punch Bowl and Lid are made of heavy 3/8 inch thick lead crystal.CUPS.The eleven cups have a similar design to that of the bowl and lid. Hand cut design consist of nine 2 1/2 inch vertical miter cuts equally spaced around the circumference of the cup. There are 3 horizontal cuts equally spaced up the cup body. These vertical and horizontal miter cuts form 2 horizontal rows of 8 rectangles each. Alternately placed hobstar and flat-star designs are hand-cut to fit within these rectangles (photo # 9 & 10).The base has a 2 3/8 inch diameter 16 point star burst cut on the bottom (photo # 11).There is a 2 inch wide vertical blank space left unadorned to accommodate the attached 2 inch notched handle. There is, also, a 1/2 inch wide blank horizontal space below and around the cup rim( photo # 12).
