Recent Prominent Raleigh, NC estate sale find. This listing is for an absolutely stunning, gigantic and exceedingly rare 21 1/2" round serving platter. Designed for a tea or coffee service, we purchased this piece with a Spode Blue Willow Tiffany tea set. This piece is not marked Tiffany, so we're not sure if t was an original part of that set. Outstanding condition, especially considering this piece is over 100 years old, with no chips, cracks, or sta...ins. It does show some light, transparent crazing, but this does not take away from the grandeur of this piece at all. The blue color is sharp and vibrant, the gold embellishments are strong and complete and the glaze has a high sheen with only a couple very tiny and virtually unnoticeable marks. Incredibly beautiful. We believe this piece was created in November 1912 based on the N over 12 embossed date code. Additionally, the underside is marked with an embossed crescent Copeland mark over a crown (indicating White Earthenware) and also a stamped early Copeland China / Spode mark first used in 1890.
