RARE BEAUTIFUL LARGE RENE LALIQUE 12" COQUILLES CHARGER PLATTER - SIGNED #3009For your consideration:This large Art Deco era art glass plate was designed by Rene Lalique in the company's highly successful Coquilles seashell motif. The piece has a strong linear design and features four large scallop shells which are arranged in a 'book matched' mirror image orientation. The arched tops of four additional scallop shells are visible peeking out from behind the shells at the center. The pl...ate rests on four rounded feet modeled after the natural shape of a scallop shell. The design is referenced on page 701 of Felix Marcilhac's R.Lalique – Catalogue Raisonné.
The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The piece measures 11.625" in diameter and the rim stands 1.75" from the surface on which it is displayed. The center of the plate bears the hand etched mark "R LALIQUE FRANCE" along with design number "No. 3009". The piece weighs in at 3lbs.
This large Lalique plate displays beautifully and would be a fantastic addition to a collection of pre-WW2 Rene Lalique art glass, or works equally well as a stand alone decorative accent. A striking antique find!

This overlapping shell design was very successful in the early days of René Lalique's glass company. The company produced plates and bowls in various sizes, both opalescent and clear crystal. The design is intaglio on the back side. The front side is smooth.
