Up for auction is a stunning antique 19th C. tin candle lantern, measuring 15" (38 cm) tall to the top of the carrying ring. As well as the carrying ring, there is also a socket on the back for mounting on a pole. There are some small dings and dents, commensurate with age, but overall in very good condition for its age. The door still contains the original sheet of pressed horn, which served as a window. This has become discoloured and damaged with age, but could easily be replaced wi...th a sheet of clear, flexible plastic, or you could even have a go at making your own pressed horn plaques, plenty of information available on the internet.
