                Please check out my 100% Positive eBayFeedback and bid with complete confidence. (And please check out the other beautiful pots that I have on eBay.)                You are bidding on an exceptionallidded form by the late legendary potter and educator Val Cushing.             &nb...sp;  DESCRIPTION:  Masterful details abound on this liddedjar from Val Cushing.  The bottom twothirds of the jar feature a deftly executed pattern of raised gourd-like swellsseparated by thin sgrafitto lines and carved four-link “chains”.  The upper portion of the jar is a silky smoothneck. It is topped with an inspired lid that features a well-placed button atopa raised circular center and an angled ledge that nicely overhangs therim.  A concentric circular pattern aroundthe outside of the lid imparts further textural interest to the pot.                The lidded jar is adorned witha deep green glaze with teal highlights along its raised sections and aroundthe end of the rim.  The interior of thepot has a nicely contrasting creamy white glaze.                Thelidded jar stands 7” tall and measures 6 ½” at its widest- and has the potter’sinscribed signature on the base.               CONDITION:  The lidded jar has no chips or repairs and isin original undamaged condition.  Itemerged from the kiln with a fully glazed horizontal firing line that coversabout ½ the exterior- as seen in the photos.                This is a noreserve auction.                ABOUT VALCUSHING:       The late Val Cushing is somethingof an icon in the annals of 20th Century American ceramics.  Examples ofhis work can be found in nearly every major ceramics book that has beenpublished in the last 25 years (as well as in the permanent collection of manyprestigious museums.)  Cushing retired after 40 years of teaching ceramicsat Alfred University, which is considered the premier university in the UnitedStates for the study of ceramics.   He was Professor Emeritus andmuch of Alfred's reputation is due to Cushing's influence andguidance. Val Cushing is also highly respected (and widely collected) onan international scale.  Examples of his work can be found in thepermanent collections of many of the world’s most prestigious museums includingthe American Craft Museum, the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the International Museum of Ceramic Art in Japan, theCooper Hewitt Museum, and the Ohio Museum of Ceramics.               SHIPPING:     Winning bidder pays for insured UPS Groundor USPS Priority shipping.  Winning NewYork bidder pays applicable state sales tax. International shipping charge is $60. Winning international bidders are responsible for any import taxesimposed by their particular country. Payment via PAYPAL is due within five days of the end of the auction.THANKS for looking and GOOD LUCK.
