Grapefruit Moon Gallery is thrilled to announce the acquisition of a large, detailed, and well-maintained collection of vintage Bettie Page ephemera and memorabilia. Often referred to as the “Queen of the Pinups, ” Bettie’s jet-black hair, blue eyes, and trademark fringe have influenced artists and models for generations. Page entered the field of “glamour photography” as a popular camera club model. Her lack of inhibition in posing made her a hit and landed her in such men’s magazines as Wink, Titter, Eyeful, Beauty Parade and Playboy. While finding success modeling in commercial glamour photography, Page’s pin-up and BDSM photos and films for photographer Irving Klaw made her iconic.
Hugh Hefner said of Page, “I think that she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society.” This unique collection contains a wide assortment of photographs from Klaw and others as well as magazines, films, and collectibles bearing Page’s singular visage & body. We will be offering them here on eBay in a No Reserve Auction format over the coming weeks and months.
