Antique Victorian MARY GREGORY Blue Blown Glass Hand Painted Scene Vase. Today we are delighted to offer for sale a rare example of Mary Gregory blue glass vases. Mary Gregory (1856–1908) was an American artist known for her decoration of glass products at the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Gregory worked for Boston and Sandwich from 1880 to 1884. Gregory painted lamps and plaques of landscape scenes during her years at B&SGC. She was particularly well ...known for her paintings of Victorian Era children, and such artwork has been referred to as Mary Gregory since the 1920s. This fantastic set is composed of two beautiful blue (turquoise blue) glass vases. Each vase is expertly hand-painted with a whimsical inspired scene of classis Gregory children, one delicately holding a bird and the other a flower. In the background is a lush garden with trees, flowers, and lush vegetation. The scene is painted in white and contrasts beautifully with the vivid Victorian blue glass background. Pair presents very well and is in very good antique condition, with only very minor display wear and patina commensurate with age. The only issue is some wear to the gold accents. No chips, cracks or scratches. Circa late 1800’s. This pair of vases will make a fabulous addition or beginning to any Mary Gregory collection.
