This is a vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy publicity photograph of the great motion picture actor EDWARD G. ROBINSON. Issued during his association with Warner Bros. in the 1930's, he is depicted wearing a dark suit with a tie and holding a cigar while posing for the camera. This photograph was inscribed by Edward G. Robinson in black felt-tip pen later in his life to motion picture historian, author, and collector Robert S. Birchard thusly: To Bob - All the best -... Edward G. Robinson.
Printed on single-weight stock with a glossy finish, this vintage original photograph is in near-fine condition with a small circular blemish near the top right corner of the background area; one pinhole in the center of the top and bottom borders, one in the top of his hair and one on the bottom of the image area; the light parallel outlines of two small paperclips on the center of the right border that go into the background area; a few small random creases in the image area (none of which affect his inscription or face); and random signs of light wear on the borders. The image quality is razor-sharp with fine detail and beautiful contrast.
Edward G. Robinson was best known for his classic gangster film's made at Warner Bros. in the 1930's with the most being Little Caesar (1931), in which he played the starring role of "Rico."
