Here is an unexpected 1962 reissue pairing of two 1950s Bel Air horror exploiters using retitles and horror stars of the past and present to attract patrons to attract fans to Silent Death/Dr Cadman's Secret. Silent Death is really 1957's hoary Voodoo Island, a nominal horror adventure starring a fatigued Boris Karloff, a woman-eating plant and the half-naked woman it loves. And Dr Cadman's Secret is out as The Black Sleep (1956), a pretty dark tale of Basil Rathbone's human... experiments gone awry. By 1962 I'd bet these two films looked like they were from the 1940s, but that classic horror cast and this crude duo-tone double-bill poster would have been awfully hard to resist for the burgeoning generation of "monster kids"!
