A solid heavy dished slab of glass in Arctic blue by Whitefriars. Quite rare, this was made for the Bison concrete company dating to the 60s/70s. The glass blower Mike Cripps who worked at Whitefriars for many years distinctly remembers making these items. 11.5cm x 11.5cm. 3.5cm thick at the corners. Just over 1kg in weight. It is in excellent condition - no chips or cracks - and almost no age-related wear to the base (see pic 2 of base). Are just a few minor air bubble inclusinos as i...s normal and inevitable for this type of object.These were not included in Whitefriars normal yearly catalogues at the time, but a quick Google serach for images and information will verify this provenanceif any buyers are unfamiliar with them.Makes a great and striking paperweight, or just a display object, whether laid flat or displayed on its side.
