McCarty /McCartys Pottery Bread Bowl / Platter / Mississippi

This is a classic McCartys Pottery bread bowl in the nutmeg glaze. I think this is a very interesting piece because it so clearly tells us it is hand-built slab pottery. I don't know its age or origins but it measures 19" long and 8" wide at the widest point and is in excellent condition. I wonder if it was considered a second because it is less uniform and slightly wider than normal. Some of the toothy thumb prints are also irregular. There are nice frothy glaze pools around the botto...m rim that add texture and interest. All of these features make the bowl more desirable to me but you must judge for yourself.
