Today we are excited to offer for sale this beautiful antique Ackermann & Fritze tea cup! This stunning tea cup was intricately and expertly crafted by Ackermann & Fritze, a renowned artisan studio founded in 1908 in Volkstedt, Germany, that specialized in heavily decorated mythological or historical scenes on porcelain in the antique Royal Vienna style. The "beehive" mark on the base is an imitation of the Imperial & Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Vienna that was in operation from 1712- 1864. The Empire-style tea cup features a neo-classical scene of a group of Romans consulting the Oracle at Delphi, surrounded by intricate arabesque and foliate designs picked out in gilding. The inscription around the inner base of this cup reads "Die Römer befragen das Orakel von Delphes" (The Romans question the oracle of Delphes". The cup presents beautifully and is in very good antique condition, with very minor display wear and patina commensurate with age; there is very minimal loss to gilding, and no cracks, chips, or restorations. Add old world elegance and style to any fine antique porcelain collection with this lovely teacup... Fresh to the market!
