An original mono 1st press of Pepper on the UK Parlophone label from 1967. Matrix 1/1. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono Garrod & Lofthouse cover with the flipbacks exposed. We have a generic white inner from the time, but there's no flame inner or cut-outs I'm afraid.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In very nice condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks and then one semi-feelable on each of the two sides. Thankf...ully, one of the marks seems to have almost no effect on the audio at all. The other one does sound - see details below. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. The first thing that hit me with this copy is that it is a clean player for the most part. Many copies, even the nicer looking ones, can exhibit audible issues in many tracks. But this copy dishes the audio out at a high standard right from the get go. Side 1 plays absolutely great and, in reality, there is very little to find fault with at all. Side 2 plays clean too, but one of the marks mentioned above does sound. Expect a few ticks in the final section of WYWY and then, again, for the first 30 seconds of WI64. They're not that invasive, but they are noticeable. If that's something you can't live with then clearly this copy will not suit you. But if you're someone who can accommodate this relatively brief issue in order to bag a nice copy at good value which plays, for the most part, supremely well...then do seriously consider it.
Cover (Ex-) Original Pepper copies often looked a bit washed out and creased, but this example still exhibits bold vivid colours. There's a couple of thumbnail creases toward the opening, but otherwise it looks very smart. Ditto the rear juts a couple of creases. The interior is pretty much immaculate - no issues at all. Edge wear is light for this title and I can only make out 1c.m. at the top edge of the rear panel, and a one inch section at the foot. The spine looks better than average with most text still legible - just missing the 'y' of Lonely. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Lightest ageing. And a one inch edge split.
