Over here in France a standard breakfast or "petite déjeuner" is a bowl, yes a bowl, full of café au lait or hot chocolate, or roasted chicoree and milk. They use a bowl so they can easily dip their croissants or baguettes into the brew. Coffee cups are just to small to adroitly make this manoever. There are literally thousands of different motifs an gosh knows how many manufacturers. No doubt they have been used for thousands and thousands of breakf...asts over their long lives and now perhaps if you don't plan to put them into service they are ready for retirement on a nice comfy display shelf in your kitchen or dining room. This beautiful collection of 3 bowls are Yellow and White. 2 are signed, the yellow criss cross is a Digoin and the fluted with yellow band is a Porcelain de Lorraine. They measure 5 inches in diameter for the 2 larger bowls...the smaller one measures 4.25 inches. These bowls have seen quite a few "petite dejeuners" since the 1930s/1960's but they are still very decorative if not practical.
