Beautiful fancy relief molded porcelain bowl with relief molded leaves along the inside. Nicely decorated with hand painted purple, blue, orange and yellow flowers. With fancy gold gilt scroll work designs and gold gilt highlights along the edge. Marked H over a crossed mark above Dresden in blue. This is an over glaze decorating mark used by Franziska Hirsch in Dresden Germany between 1894 and 1896. H...as impressed mark with PM 8 in the circle on the bottom also.
Has some wear to the gilding, and a very small chip in glazier on the back edge of the handle (see last 2 photos). No additional chips or cracks.
Measures: 9" x 6" x 1-1/4" tall.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display-ability of the piece.
In 1894 Franziska Hirsch founded a painting studio located in Struwestrasse 19 where porcelain was decorated in the Meissen style.In 1896 the Meissen factory submitted an official complaint against Hirsch for the imitation of their patented factory mark. The complaint was upheld and Hirsch was forbidden any further use of the mark.
