We do not use stock photos so what you see is what youget. Australian One Sheet movie posters are27” x 40” not 27” x 41” like their American counter parts and can vary an inchin length dependent on the printers used to produce them. Modern Americanposters are now also 27” x 40” but modern posters can also vary by ½” to 1”dependent on the printer used. Australian printers were under licence to produce the posters asthey saw fit for Australian audiences and many artists did different variationsto the American one-sheets.The artists would generally use US poster art or press book imagesfor their inspiration and they would either trace or use their own imaginationor a combination of both to come up with a new design for the poster. Many vintage one-sheet posters were usually produced using thestone litho process which produced rich deep colours but were only printed inlimited quantities. It is believed that as few as 200 one sheets were printedfor films up to 1950. This explains the rarity of the Australian one sheetmovie posters. The Australian one-sheet movie posters used to be issued foldedbut now most modern posters are issued rolled and many come directly from thedistributors in America as the American one-sheets are also now 27” 40” but canvary slightly in length size dependent on the distributor and printer used. Many are now also double-sided for use in light boxes. How Our Posters Are Graded: Allimages of the posters are of the actual poster for sale so what you see is whatyou get, we do not use stock photos. Very Fine – Almost Mint: Unused with no flaws. Fine:  Generally unused with the original folds or rolled. Theremay be some slight minor edge wear due to storage and, possible signs of minorageing but no significant flaws. Very Good:  These have the usual folds or arerolled posters possibly with pinholes, very light blue tack stain spots, minoredge or fold wear, minor splits or tears, and unobtrusive stains but no paperloss. Good: Has possible staining, pinholes, minor paper lifts incorners, small tears (possibly taped on reverse) slight fold separations, minorpaper loss, and possible blue tack stain spots, and edge wear but still goodenough to frame. Fair: These posters will need some restoration and are usuallyonly sold on this site if they are very rare and hard to find. There will be acombination of tears, paper loss, staining, pinholes and blue tack stains butbecause of the rarity of the poster, worth linen backing. About Australian Movie Posters:Thehand litho process was usually utilized for Australian daybill postersresulting in a rich texture of artwork with subtle toning that was often uniqueto Australia.  Theartists would generally use US poster art or press book images for theirinspiration and they would either trace or use their own imagination or acombination of both to come up with a design for the poster. The daybill sizesvaried considerably from 13" x 30" from the 40s to the mid 60s to13" x 26" in the 80s. The Australian one-sheets were normally 27” x40” as compared to the US 27” x 41” one-sheets. Certainfirms seem to predominate during certain periods, such as W.E. Smith of Sydneyduring the 1940s and 1950s. Several other printers like F. Cunninghame &Co. Pty. Ltd. (litho) Sydney, Royelltone Prints Pty. Ltd., and Simmons Ltd.printed older posters but W.E. Smith and Robert Burton produced most. Duringthe 70s M.A.P.S started producing movie posters and there is an overlap whereboth Robert Burton and M.A.P.S printed some of the same original posters. Otherprinters like Brown Prior Anderson in Burwood, Victoria, Australia, alsoprinted some of the B grade and R rated Australian posters and, some of thefilm distributors like Roadshow produced their own posters. Itis important to note that daybills for the original release of a film oftenincluded a lesser duotone and black and white style. In many cases these aremistakenly referred to as copies or later reissues but they were generallyreleased at the same time the full colour versions were issued so are alsooriginals. Combined Postage Information: We will combine any auction orfixed price posters to save you on postage.
