Click images to enlarge Description From a recent estate sale I have up a gorgeous Aynsley England Orchard Gold bone china cup and saucer set. Both pieces feature a mixed fruit motif consisting of peaches, plums, raspberries and grapes. There is rich gold gilding inside the cup its handle and foot and the cup has gold ribbing. In the center of the saucer where the cup rests there is also a center of rich gold gilding. Both pieces have scalloped edges.The cup is signed by D Jones (PICTURE5) and saucer by N Brunt (PICTURE4)for Nancy Brunt who was the head creative designer painter for this pattern.
Measurements are about 2 1/2" T X 5" W (from edge to handle) and the saucer is about 5 3/4"W.
Both cup and saucer are in very good condition and without any chips cracks crazing or repairs. There are some scratches and a few pottery imperfections on both.
Both pieces carry the 1925 to to 1934 Aynsley England Green Crown back stamp on the bottom.
Aynsley has been manufacturing pottery since 1775. In Longton Stoke on Trent Staffordshire England. John Ansley II opened the Portland works in Stoke on Trent and changed the company’s focus from making drinking mugs to producing in 1861, fine strong bone ash translucent breakfast tea and dessert wares. The company is still in production today making traditional and modern china.
A very hard set to find and a wonderful display piece for your home or office.
