This is a huge floor vase that stands about 14 inches tall! This is also a very heavy piece! I believe this to be a Ozark Tourist Vase from Missouri In the Nemadji style. This vase is in good condition, it does appear to have a soiled surface, I did try washing it but it still has a soiled look to it. There is what appears to be a partial label, which more or less says Harold Horne or Horine, M.M. Horne or Horine props. Hwy 65 South Hollister (MO??) Craft Co. Next to this label is... a glaze pop and a factory made chip, see photo. The surface has imperfections. The piece was also used and shows it. I believe this dates to the 1930's or 1940's period. This cost $1.25 when it was purchased new.This is a huge vase and it weighs 10 pounds just by itself. This will not be cheap to mail, sorry I have no control over that. I first started to research the Horne surname and found nothing.The Horine surname proved to be exciting! So far I found that Maude M. Horine was the Manager and Harold Horine was the assistant manager in an ornamental pottery business in the 1940’s. They also had a laborer by the name of John R. Baker living with them who also worked for them. I believe the label is a partial label for the Como-Craft Pottery of which Harold held patents on the process of cement pottery; this explains why this piece is so heavy. Apparently the Horines owned the Mount Como Inn & Restaurant at Hwy 65 & 165. Maude was also reputedly a friend to Rose O’Neill of the Kewpie Doll fame.I also found reference to this being called “sand pottery”, “art pottery” or even “studio pottery”.Cool Piece with lots of history!!
