Modern made, Edgefield South Carolina style alkaline glazed face jug by the late Gary Dexter (1953-2018) of the Vaucluse / Aiken, South Carolina area. Jug was made of hand dug clay and glazed and wood fired using early South Carolina techniques used to produce Edgefield area alkaline glazed stoneware. I purchased this jug from Mr. Dexter several years ago. The only issue of note is from the firing process. According to Mr. Dexter, the bottom of the jug stuck to the kiln bottom and had ...to be pried free from the kiln. As a result the jug bottom is rough and jagged. Gary ground and smoothed the rough area as best he could. Jug is about 7 1/2 inches high and about 4 1/4 inches wide at the base. It weighs about 3 1/2 pounds and has about a 1/2 gallon capacity.Please ask questions before bidding as all sales are final. Jug will be carefully packed and shipped by insured US Mail.
