British 8 Day Walnut Clock With Hermle Triple Chime Movement. 1979 (restore ?)
Item History & Price
Having a clearance of clocks that have small faults as i have trouble finding the time nowadays so selling for restore.A nice clock with triple chime. When i first found this clock it had been painted white gloss with pink on moulding and movement was probably the dirtiest i have ever had.Anyway to see if it run ok i stripped paint off and case was good underneath.I soaked clock in cleaner for days and eventually got it clean enough to run.Oiled it and cleaned spring barrels. It no...w runs fine but really it could do with a better service so selling for restore.Case is good with carved moulding i am not sure but i think it is dark walnut.Measures 14 inches wide 9.5 inches high 4.5 deep.Brass glazed bezel is good over really nice dial with silvered chapter ring and silver decorative centre.Printed at bottom is British made Foreign movement.Movement is a Hermle 8 day with quarter striking chimes on 8 copper rods.Date mark is 1979.Has choice of 3 chimes Westminster Whittington and St Michael plus silent. It is in working order with floating balance. On the newer ones the balance starts straightaway this one needs a little flick of the clock then runs fine not sure if earlier ones were like that or not.A nice chimer well worth a little work.
