I'm selling here items from my space collection of autographs of astronauts & cosmonauts.This item includes a 11 x 15 cm / 4.33 x 5.90 inches invitation card signed by Yuri Gagarin (1934-1968). On the upper left hand side corner is th elogo of the Friendship Association of Finland and Soviet Union.On the backside text in Finnish inviting people to attend an occassion for the association in April 7, 1961 in Helsinki, Finland. Gagarin visited that occassion and signed this card there....Gagarin was the first human to journey into outer space, when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on 12 April 1961. He became an international celebrity, and was awarded many medals and titles, including Hero of the Soviet Union, the nation's highest honor.Provenance: This item comes from the estate of Mr. Toivo Karvonen (1906-1988), a long time Chairman of the Friendship Association of Finland & The Soviet Union. He served the Association for almost 25 years and visited Soviet Union more than a hundred times during that period. He had a close relationship to Soviet politicians and cultural persons.
