I WE ARE PLEASED TO COMBINE MULTIPLE PURCHASES INTO ONE SHIPMENT IN ORDER TO REDUCE COST. PLEASE DO NOT PAY UNTIL WE HAVE A CHANCE TO SEND A COMBINED INVOICE WITH ALL THE SHIPPING OPTIONS. From an Estate Sale of 1930's-1950's CHINA & GLASS, we offer from the BACCARAT Crystal Manufactory in France, a GORGEOUS 4 3/4" high by 2 3/4" wide by 1 5/8" deep PERFUME BOTTLE WITH STOPPER(TWO OZ. SIZE). IT HAS THE ICONIC BOTTLE SHAPE(MADE SINCE 1912) with SCROLLED SHOULDERS and SCROLLED OPEN H...EART STOPPER - THERE ARE NO INDICATIONS THAT THIS BOTTLE EVER CONTAINED PERFUME - PERHAPS, ONLY DISPLAYED BY A BACCARAT CRYSTAL COLLECTOR AND NOT A PERFUME AFFICIANADO? Bottle & stopper both have an incised "15" for the purpose of matching at the factory. With acid etched Baccarat hallmark. This bottle is in superb condition without any cracks, chips, nicks or stains - appears to have been rarely ever used - can't find any marks/scratches - only sign of use is a couple teeny spots on the inside bottom(can't be seen looking down at the bottom - has to be held up to the light and viewed through the top opening). NO SIGNS OF PERFUME OIL IN THE INSIDE CORNERS OR ON THE "ROUGHED UP" INSIDE NECK OF THE BOTTLE AND PLUG END OF STOPPER.ATTRIBUTION/PROVENANCE - acid etched hallmark confirms that this is a Baccarat product. Also, this bottle was originally designed by Guerlain and Baccarat in 1912 to contain Guerlain's "L'heure bleue" scent and then, in 1919 is was used for the Mitsouko" scent - since then, this shape bottle has been used continuously for these two scents and also, other Guerlain perfumes(there are dozens upon dozens of photos on Ebay and Worthpoint). NOW, HERE'S THE MOST INTERESTING TIDBIT: from documentation on the Internet, we gather than the joint design of the bottle shape was never issued the equivalent of a U.S. Patent and therefore, this shape bottle was made by Baccarat & Cristal Nancy(1921-1934) and 4 other French glass houses for Guerlain. In addition, since the bottle design was essentially a "public domain" resource, we are quite certain that the six glass manufactories could also market this bottle to the general public with only their mark and not an accompanying Guerlain mark - most likely, buyers of these bottles without perfume, were collectors who were just interested in owning/displaying fine crystal. There is no doubt that art glass perfume bottles without perfume were offered by Baccarat and others, e.g., if you check the Crystal Replacements Websites, you will find photos of 14 Baccarat perfume bottles of different designs with "LAVANDE" & "SANTAL" being similar in size to our bottle. These bottles, of course, would only be etched with the Baccarat hallmark, as with our offering, and have no mark of any perfumery. PRICING GUIDELINES: we felt that this Baccarat perfume bottle that was not associated with Guerlain, was a SCARCE FIND - THIS MAY SOUND CRAZY BUT TO VERIFY SCARCITY, WE SEARCHED EBAY’S 3 MONTH & WORTHPOINT’S 13 YEAR HISTORIES AND EBAY'S CURRENT OFFERS FOR SALE, IN ORDER TO FIND BACCARAT PERFUME BOTTLES OF THE ICONIC 1912 DESIGN; TO SEE IF THEY HAD A GUERLAIN PAPER LABEL; OR, IF NO PAPER LABEL, WHETHER GUERLAIN WAS ETCHED ON THE BOTTOM UNDERSIDE ALONG WITH THE BACCARAT HALLMARK; OR, IF NO GUERLAIN PAPER LABEL OR ETCHED MARK, WHETHER THEY JUST HAD THE BACCARAT HALLMARK, OR, SOME OTHER MAKER’S MARK. WE FOUND THAT OUT OF THE 172 SALES OF OUR SHAPE PERFUME BOTTLE AND THE 44 OFFERS ON EBAY THAT WERE STATED TO BE BACCARAT, THEY ALL HAD EITHER A GUERLAIN LABEL/MARK OR WERE ETCHED WITH “CRISTAL NANCY”. SO, COULD IT BE THAT OUR BOTTLE IS UNIQUE, IN THAT IT WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH A PERFUMERY, NEVER HELD PERFUME IN IT AND WAS SOLD BY BACCARAT AS A COLLECTIBLE BOTTLE? FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DON'T BELIEVE IN ANGELS OR SANTA CLAUS; OR, ALWAYS FEEL THAT THE GLASS IS HALF EMPTY; OR, AS MOST OF US, ARE SENSITIVE TO THE CONSTANT SCAMMING OF THE "ZEITGEIST", WE CAN EMPATHIZE WITH THE FEELING THAT THE ABSENCE OF THE ACID ETCHED GUERLAIN MARK WAS SIMPLY AN ERROR OF OMISSION BY THE FACTORY(AS WITH QUITE A FEW WATERFORD ITEMS THAT I HAVE) OR THAT THE MARK APPLIED BY THE FACTORY WAS VERY FAINT(AGAIN, THIS IS TO BE SEEN ON SOME WATERFORD ITEMS) AND OVER 50+ YEARS, IT HAS COMPLETELY FADED OUT. HOWEVER, THIS BEGS THE QUESTIONS AS TO WHY THE BACCARAT MARK IS PRESENT AND STILL SHARP WHILE THE GUERLAIN MARK IS MISSING, WHEN BOTH WERE APPLIED BY THE SAME FACTORY, AND WHY, OUT OF THE 216 BOTTLES MENTIONED ABOVE, THAT WE EXAMINED, NOT A SINGLE ONE HAD A BACCARAT MARK WITHOUT THE ASSOCIATED GUERLAIN MARK?IN ANY EVENT, IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT OUR BOTTLE IS UNIQUE, BUT, WE SHALL GO OUT ON A LIMB AGAIN AND GUARANTEE THIS TO BE A GENUINE BACCARAT PERFUME BOTTLE NOT MADE FOR A PERFUMERY BUT TO BE A COLLECTIBLE, AND, WHICH MAY WELL BE ONE-OF-A-KIND.WE ALSO FOUND ONE SALE OF THE SIMILAR SHAPE/SIZE BACCARAT “LAVANDE” PERFUME BOTTLE AT $125.
