William M. Maynard was a artist from Cape Cod . This pai...nting is entitled the BabySitter. It depicts an old barn with houses in the background. There is an older Blackman sitting in the door watching 7 children playing in the yard. The Children appear to be Black & White Children. There is a small girl on an old three wheel bike, two girls jumping rope and 2 children squatting down playing a game on the ground, a girl playing with a dog and one girl standing watching everyone. There is a cat sitting on a barrell. An old Tire rope swing.I believe this to be one of Maynards best paintings. Subject matter and all.
