This is a lovely ancient thick sheet with a discreet and simple monogram.The fabric is an ancient blend of linen and cotton called metis, with this one having a high linen content. It has a crisp feeling.The monogram is tall with slender letters are slender but quite pronounced and raised from the fabric.This would make a wonderful drape, if it wasn't used as a shee...t.

These sheets formed part of a bride's dowry linen or trousseau, with both their initials monogrammed onto all the household linen. Some were made by the bride herself, and others given as wedding presents, and made by female members of her family.
They would make perfect curtains or drapes covering a patio window, or other large space, as metis linen drapes beautifully and is popular with interior designers for that reason, and because it takes dye easily.
The linen would also be perfect for large tablecloths, pelmets, as sheets as originally intended, or, because it is still so strong, any upholstery or slipcover project you have in mind. Offcuts can be used for cushions, scented door hangers, or pieced together to make a wonderful patchwork quilt incorporating other vintage textiles and even monograms, like the one I saw recently.
