Here's an early pontiled blackglass ale bottle from the 1840s with its original label!....no embossing in the glass....Original label is faded and worn but reads BEST STOUT PORTER E&G HIBBERT LONDON cross in circle....Hand blown in dip mold, so there are no mold seams....rough pontil scar on bottom....applied double ring collar....dark olive green black glass.....8 1/2"tall.....it has a potstone on back with crack which runs around most of the shoulder of bottle, but the glass is s...o black that you cant see the crack unless you hold the bottle in the light; no other damage. A nice clean attic bottle with no haze. Still has original cork in neck! This bottle was found in the wall of an early house along with other 1840s and older bottles & artifacts.
