Oh how I wish I could read the signature on this stunning painting (photo 2). Artwork is an abstract expressionist oil painting that is signed but the signature cannot be deciphered by me. Top quality painting and a vintage piece but it has to be appreciated on its own merit as the artist's name is a mystery. The style looks a lot like that of Leonard Edmondson but the signature is not his. The piece measures 14" x 24" and the primary colors are green, red, blue, black, white and musta...rd. The artwork has a shellac finish that makes it shine. The pictures tell the story although the actual artwork is not quite as bright as the photos turned out. The original painting was on a canvas sheet that has been adhered to a thin wooden or styrofoam sheet and then glazed with shellac. The paint is either oil or enamel. There is a date after the cryptic name and it looks to be "60" (photo 2) but just not sure. I bought this piece about 2 years ago and the seller told me it was by an American artist (who obviously could paint but could not legiblly sign his name...) It is most difficult to sell art without important information like the name of the artist but this piece is gorgeous and I'm hoping someone who appreciates abstract art will display it as it should be displayed (and maybe even figure out the signature). The artwork can be hung either vertically or horizontally since the name is a blur so I've taken photos of both perspectives.
