Original Description:
This is a wonderful c1810-1820 miniature portrait of a lady in a blue dress, with a gold plated surround. She measures 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" including the frame. She is a gouache or watercolor on paper, with amazing details. The poem on the back reads "Blest be the pencil who's consoling pow'r, Soothing soft Friendship in her pensive hour, Dispels the cloud, with melancholy fraught, That absence throws upon his tender thought." There is the original domed glass covering the portrait... excel...lent condition. You will love this miniature... she is wonderful.
