1930s Nathan Straus - Duparquet Restaurant Ware (set Of 3 Dishes) Beige / Maroon
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:13071763 | Object Type: Dinner Plate |
Color: Beige |
They measure 7" across and have light surface scratches consistent with age and use. All have a backstamp that says "Cafe Au Lait Lamelle Buffalo China"
One dish is unique in that it has an additional "Nathan Straus Duparquet" backstamp, which refers to the company - located in NYC - that was a merger of Nathan Straus and Sons with Duparquet, Hout and Company in 1936. It closed in '65. A ...bit of research reveals that Nathan Straus co-owned two of New York's City's biggest department stores - R.H. Macy & Company and Abraham & Straus.
The dish with the "Nathan Straus Duparquet" backstamp is the only one that also has a frontstamp with fancy rendering of the initials NYC (please see picture).
Unfortunately I do not have much other information other than the dishes having been in the family since the early time period mentioned and stored in our smoke-free home. At slightly over 14 ounces each, they are sturdy, solid, and would make a great collection of vintage restaurant ware.
Please note that they are only being sold as a set - not available separately.
Also worth mentioning is that some of the things seen on a few pictures are merely reflections from other parts of the room. As can be seen in most of the photos, there are very few blemishes.
I have represented the item as accurately as possible with the description and photos. Nothing else is sold as part of the listing other than what is pictured. Please communicate any questions you may have about an item. It is my goal to have buyers be completely satisfied with their purchases.

I approach any sales transaction in a conscientious manner and would hope for the same from my buyers.
Returns:
Unless specifically mentioned, there are no returns on purchased items. For those items that I do accept returns on, please notifiy me within 7 days with a description of what is wrong. There is a 14-day return period. Once I receive the item back, examine it, and determine that the item was received by you other than as described, your purchase cost will be refunded through Paypal, but note that return shipping is at the buyer’s expense. I would ask that you cancel the transaction through eBay so that my eBay fees are returned.
