 ...;This wonderful Western Americana View is among the most desirable Small Folio Currier & Ives. The Image depicts a Metis hunter on horseback riding aside a buffalo at center. The hunter raised his rifle above his head triumphantly as the Bison appears ready to fall to the ground. In the background another rider is seen chasing down another Bison and in the distance a buffalo herd can be seen fleeing across the plains.
This very rare and quite wonderful Currier & Ives Western Americana Hand Colored Stone Lithograph is in excellent condition - the coloring is bright and vibrant and the image area is crisp and clean and exceptionally well preserved. The original margins are wide and well preserved with no tears or chipping. The margins are generally quite clean with a line of toning along the outer edge of the top margin. Overall the sheet is exceptionally well preserved and displays beautifully.
