3 Dartington Glass Crystal Melon Boat/bowl/dish. FT466 1987 Frank Thrower, Rare
Item History & Price
A rare large melon boat, model no FT466, designed by Frank Thrower for Dartington, England.
24% lead crystal it's heavy for its size - it's quite big and suitable for a larger slice of watermelon as well as other types of melon or for a banana split, ice creams, etc.
The design dates from 1987, but the Sandblasted D logo on the base (last pic) was used in the early 1990s, so I would think this is dated to around 1990. Frank Thrower died in 1987 so I guess this is one of his very ...last designs.
It's blown into a mold, the textured pattern on the underside is imagery of a melon with leaves.
Internally its smooth and glossy. Irregular undulating sides.
I have three of these available. Please ask if you'd like me combine postage.
24cm long x 13cm wide x 8cm tall. 611g.
Excellent condition.
